About Swastik Codes
We are building one place to design, test, mock, monitor and document APIs, whatever protocol they speak, that opens in a browser tab and works with the collections you already have.
Why we built it
Most teams we work with have APIs in more than one style. A REST back end, a GraphQL gateway, a WebSocket feed for live updates, gRPC between services, MQTT for devices, and now MCP servers for AI agents. Each one tends to come with its own tool, its own way of storing requests, and its own place where credentials end up.
We wanted a single client that treats all of them as first-class: the same collections, environments, variables, scripts, history and sharing whether the request is a GET /orders or a server-streaming gRPC call. We also wanted it to respect the work people have already done, so it reads Postman collections and runs scripts written against Postman's documented pm.* API, and it imports Insomnia, OpenAPI, cURL and HAR as well.
What Swastik Codes is today
Swastik Codes is a web application at swastik.codes/app. It includes:
- clients for HTTP and REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket, Socket.IO, Server-Sent Events, MQTT and MCP;
- API tests with pre-request and test scripts, a collection runner with data files, and load tests;
- mock servers, scheduled monitors, API specifications with linting and published documentation;
- team workspaces with roles, comments, version history, forks, pull requests and reviews.
It is free to use. There are no paid plans today. A desktop app for Windows and Linux sends requests from your own computer; a macOS version is coming.
How it works
The interface runs in your browser or the desktop app. The heavy lifting happens in one native engine shared by the web app, the desktop app and the swc CLI: the HTTP engine, the protocol clients, the JavaScript sandbox for scripts and the collection runner. Because browsers cannot send arbitrary cross-origin requests, the web app asks our server to send requests for you. That server refuses private and internal network addresses, which is why the web app tests APIs that are reachable from the internet. Read more on our security page.
Principles
- Work with what people have. Import from the tools teams already use, and export back out to Postman and OpenAPI whenever you want.
- Every protocol is first-class. Saved requests, examples, history and scripts work across protocols, not just for HTTP.
- Careful with secrets. Current values stay on your device, a secret scanner checks what you publish, and the vault keeps secrets encrypted locally.
- Honest about limits. We document limits and trade-offs, including in our comparisons with other tools.
Who we are
Swastik Codes is built by Divakar, a software developer who builds back ends, APIs and developer tools, and is published by Shwastik Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd, a software company in India. The same team also makes routeman, a tool that generates Postman collections from Python and Node.js API code.
